Lacuna Music API reference

Create instrumental tracks or vocal songs from your application with the Lacuna Music API. Send a style description and title; include lyrics for a vocal song. A generation request returns a task immediately, so your application can check its status or listen for a signed completion webhook before using the finished audio.

This reference covers the public REST endpoints, authentication, request fields, responses, errors, and webhook events. For a runnable first request, follow the quickstart.

Looking for a Suno alternative or Udio alternative with a developer API? Use this reference to inspect Lacuna's request fields, task responses, and signed webhooks before integrating. The same details help if you're comparing Stable Audio, ElevenLabs Music, or Google Lyria. For product capabilities and examples, see the AI music API overview.

REST endpoints

All paths below use the production API host. Authenticate with a Lacuna API key in the Bearer token header; access requires a Pro or Ultra plan. The account endpoint is a useful connection check and consumes no generation credits.

  • GET/api/v1/me

    Check your account, plan, credit balance, and request limits before creating a track.

  • POST/api/v1/music/generations

    Submit a style and title with your own lyrics, or choose instrumental mode. The response is a generation task.

  • GET/api/v1/music/generations/{id}

    Poll the task until it is ready, then retrieve the hosted audio URLs and track metadata.

From request to audio

Create a generation with POST /api/v1/music/generations. The API deducts credits when it accepts the request and responds with a task ID. Use that ID to poll the generation endpoint, or configure the signed job.completed and job.failed webhooks to receive the outcome. Failed generations are refunded automatically.

The interactive reference below shows the request schema, model parameters, response shapes, and error codes. You can also download the OpenAPI JSON for your own client or API tooling. The MCP server guide explains how to use the same generation flow from a compatible coding agent.
